According to Taiwanese media on February 20, Barbie Hsu’s sudden death has caused immense grief for her family. Her younger sister, Dee Hsu, halted her recording schedule for six months, while Koo Jun-yup also canceled several planned events, including opening ceremonies and flash mob performances, effectively putting his career on hold.
Reports indicate that Koo Jun-yup’s hiatus may last even longer than Dee Hsu’s, with all of his scheduled activities indefinitely canceled. Originally set to attend a March opening event for three branches of a beauty medical center near Taipei’s City Hall MRT station, as well as a flash mob interactive event in February at Xinyi Champs-Élysées Plaza, Koo has now withdrawn from both.

A representative explained, “Considering Koo Jun-yup’s grief, we advised him to step back from public engagements.” The media further stated, “His sorrow remains overwhelming, and there is no sign of an imminent return to work.”
Meanwhile, Barbie Hsu’s tree burial has been postponed. Initially planned for this week, the ceremony was delayed due to Koo Jun-yup’s request.

Koo Jun-yup reportedly expressed his wish for an independent memorial space where he could visit Barbie Hsu at any time. After discussing it with her family, they agreed to select a new burial site.
Barbie Hsu, who valued environmental conservation, had expressed her desire for an eco-friendly burial. Her sister, Dee Hsu, shared, “I remember my sister saying that if she ever passed away, she wanted a tree burial. We are currently in the process of making arrangements. Until the application is approved, her ashes are being temporarily kept in our warm home before we return her to nature, as she wished.”
